WHO: DJs Karryl Eugene & neuebabylon
WHEN: THURSDAY (EVERY 4TH WEEK) 11PM – 1AM
WHAT: Exit Strategy is a collaborative mix series created by artists Karryl Eugene and neuebabylon. In this series, the two explore genres including (but not limited to) Leftfield House, Electronica, Dream Pop, Ambient and New Age Rap in an hour-long back-and-forth mix. These curations traverse notions of transcendence achieved through sonic world-building.
Karryl Eugene Bio: I’m a multidisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY, who works in mixed media and sound. My work explores notions of Black hyper-masculinity, celebritism, and digital archives. Through these themes, I use techniques such as collage, painting, sound curation, and construction of tracks to explore hyper-masculinity through the lens of pop culture from images extracted through digital platforms such as digital libraries and social media. These works question and shed light on complex aspects of the collective psyche during the digital age and how they manifest in physical realms.
neuebabylon bio: Ian King is an audiovisual artist, collagist, and musician. By combining visceral soundscapes, interactive experiences, and visual imagery, his work aims to depict the contemporary social-digital landscape and hypothesize the impact that emerging technologies will have on it. He started his experimental neuebabylon project in 2023 with his self-released three-volume project – Believe You Me – an entirely instrumental sonic experience. He also began his coalescing Harbinger and Mearcstapa series of mixtapes, which serve to provide an ongoing thesis for his work.
